Sound Healing in Los Angeles: What to Expect at Your First Session

Sound healing has become one of the most sought-after wellness experiences in Los Angeles — and for good reason. But if you've never tried it, walking into your first session can feel a little uncertain. What actually happens? What do you wear? What if you fall asleep?

Here's everything you need to know.

What is sound healing?

Sound healing is a therapeutic practice that uses specific instruments — Tibetan singing bowls, crystal bowls, gongs, chimes, and tuning forks — to create resonant frequencies that interact with your body and nervous system. The goal is to shift your brainwave state from the alert, busy beta state into the slower alpha and theta states associated with deep relaxation, meditation, and healing.

It's not mystical. It's physics. Sound is vibration, and vibration affects the body at a cellular level.

What happens during a session?

In a private sound healing session with me, you'll lie comfortably on a mat or massage table, fully clothed. I'll begin with a brief grounding practice — a few minutes of guided breathwork to help you arrive and settle.

Then the sound begins. I'll move through a sequence of instruments, creating layers of tone and vibration that wash over and through you. Sessions typically last 60–75 minutes.

You don't need to do anything. You don't need to meditate, focus, or achieve any particular state. You just receive.

What will I feel?

Every experience is unique. Some people feel a profound physical relaxation — a heaviness in the body, a sense of melting. Others experience emotional releases, vivid imagery, or a deep sense of peace. Some people fall asleep (which is completely fine — your body is still receiving the benefits).

Almost universally, people leave feeling lighter, clearer, and more present than when they arrived. Many describe it as the deepest rest they've had in months.

Practical things to know

Wear comfortable, loose clothing. Avoid a heavy meal beforehand. Arrive a few minutes early so you can settle in. Bring a water bottle — hydration after a session is important.

If you have any metal implants, pacemakers, or are in the first trimester of pregnancy, let me know before booking — we'll discuss whether sound healing is appropriate for you.

Where to experience sound healing in Los Angeles

I offer private sound healing sessions at my studio in the San Gabriel Valley area, as well as group sound baths incorporated into retreats and corporate wellness events. I also travel for private events and corporate offsites throughout the greater LA area.

If you're ready to experience it for yourself, you can book a private session directly on this site. I'd love to hold space for you.
